What engineers say after they ship.

Every review here is from someone who worked through a project and submitted it for review.

I had built RAG demos in college and they always worked, because I was the one picking the questions. Here I had to chunk a messy corpus, put an eval suite behind the retrieval, and then defend why the answers held up. That is the part nobody teaches you, and it is the reason I can now talk about a retrieval system instead of just building one.

I had shipped plenty of backend before this, but every time GenAI came up at work it was a notebook nobody could put behind an API. Seeing where retrieval, guardrails and evals actually sit inside a service, explained by the person who made those calls, is what finally made it feel like engineering rather than a demo.

I have spent years on pipelines that have to survive retries at two in the morning, so my worry with agents was always what happens when one goes wrong unattended. The agentic build went straight at approval gates, audit trails and cost caps, and the review notes on what I submitted were the useful kind.

How these get here

Every card is someone who worked through an AltGAN project and agreed to be quoted. We do not write them, we do not tidy them into marketing copy, and we do not put up a review until the person has seen it.
